Computer Based Test Interview

This round was conducted on the AMCAT platform and was a completely aptitude-based round consisting of questions from Logical reasoning, Quantitative/Qualitative reasoning, and Verbal ability. Test duration was 75 mins. Logical Reasoning (25 questions) – 25 mins. Quantitative reasoning (25 questions) – 35 mins. Verbal Reasoning (25 questions) – 25 mins. This test was easy ony some one or two hard questions were there in logical and quantitative section. One thing that is to keep in mind while giving this is keeping track of time since only one minute is their on each question. I cleared this test and was shortlisted for further rounds. Total 50 students were shortlisted for next round.

Group Discussion Interview

GD round in Deloitte is different from other companies. In Deloitte in GD round a small easy case study is given and not random topics. In this round ina group of 10 students were there. And one small easy case study was given for discussion. The panelist has first explained the instructions to us. Then the panelist shown us the case study on screen and also simultanouesly read out case study so that we can understand better. I asked questions related to terms/words present in case which I didn't understand. (always ask questions when you not able to understand any term). Since case studies are big and contains lot of information and data. So it is very much essential to take notes when panelist is reading / showing case study on screen. If you don't take notes you might miss some points which might be useful in coming up best possible answer to the problem. Basically In my GD the case study was of a retail store giant named Newmart in US. This retail store giant was operating its buisness through only retail store and various other information and data was given in case study. Newmart wants to take its buisness digital. So task was suggest best possible approach to take Newmart digital. There were three questions related to case study that questions need to be answerd through discussion in GD. After showing case study on screen 2 minutes were given to orgainse the thoughts and structure your approach. Then GD started. I did well in GD. Then total 21 students shortlisted for next round.

This was the easiest round of all. First Panelists introduced themselves to me. Then they asked me to introduce myself. So I given my introduction. Then panelists asked me two followback questions based on my introduction. Then Panelists asked one question about extracurricular activity that was there in my resume. Then panelists asked me some HR questions like What are your top three strengths ? What is most difficult decision you have taken in your life till date ? What was your approach behind taking that decision. Since the role for which I was giving interview was of Technology consultant analyst in Buisness operations division of Deloitte. The work in this specific profile for which they were recruting this time was in Cloud Engineering domain. Since I am from electrical and electronics enginnering department so I have no idea of tools and technologies that are used in cloud engineering domain. This things was evident clearly from my resume. So panelists asked me How I am keeping my self updated with new technologies in this fast changing world ? This question I answerd smartly and honestly. Then interviewers were like I have no questions. I am done. If you have any questions please ask. So I asked three questions related job role. I asked these questions to show them my intrest in this profile and how clear I am about it. That's what effectively they were looking for. One most important factor that helped in cracking interview and GD and getting placed without having knowledge or experince in consulting or cloud technologies is my confidence ( the way honestly and confidently I answerd and put my thoughts clearly) and a smile on my face during entire interview. So be confident and be happy, energetic while giving any interview you will definately crack it.

1. make sure you have read instructions before attempting aptitude test. Also make sure is there negative marking present or not. Since time is crucial while giving aptitude test so don't waste your time in questions which is hard to solve or taking time to solve or you don't know how to solve. In this case best way is to take guess and attempt if negative is not there else leave that question and move on. This is very important. Be careful. 2. Aptitude tests can be aced with ease with practice so learn and practice aptitude questions from geeksforgeeks and indiabix website. 3. For GD preparation attend events organised by TnP department related to GD and also give mock GDs organised by TnP department they are very useful. If your communication skills (able to convey your thoughts clearly and confidently ) are not good then practice GD with friends by forming groups. As GD can be aced only through practice. So practice with friends. 4. Preapre your resume well. Be prepared for any cross question that can come based on your resume and answer them confidently with clarity. 5. Prepare/write answers to commonly asked HR questions in summer of third year and practice these answers. This helps in answering tricky HR questions clearly and confidently. 6. In interviews of some consulting companies they ask some Guesstimates or ask to solve case study. So learn how to solve them from youtube and practice it. This takes time can't be done in one day. So prepare well. 7. It's my honest suggestion if possible please decide in third year summer vaccation that are you want to get placed in Consulting industry or software industry or core industry. Deciding this from starting helps in channelizing our energy in domain and we can try learn technologies and skills related to that domain. If possible you can do small project in that domain this will help you to standout and be confident in placement process.
